MOCA Gala 2024 Raises $3M for Education and Programs

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) recently hosted its 2024 Gala presented by Bvlgari at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in the vibrant Little Tokyo neighborhood of downtown Los Angeles on April 13, 2024. The evening was a phenomenal gathering, uniting over 1,100 patrons, artists, and influential cultural figures to celebrate the world of art and creativity.

L.A.-based artist Max Hooper Schneider graced the event with his incredible immersive elements and environments, collectively titled World Without End. This visionary and breathtaking display left everyone in attendance captivated and inspired by the power of contemporary art.

The electrifying atmosphere continued with an unforgettable performance by the GRAMMY-winning artist St. Vincent during the seated dinner. Her mesmerizing talent further enriched the evening, as the event successfully raised an impressive $3 million in support of the museum’s renowned exhibitions, programs, and education initiatives.

As the night progressed, the MOCA Gala After-Party took on a lively energy with DJ sets from Kilo Kish and Kitty Ca$h, keeping the celebration alive until 11pm. The seamless blend of creativity and entertainment truly made this an unforgettable experience for all who were present.

Johanna Burton, The Maurice Marciano Director of MOCA, eloquently summarized the profound impact of the evening, stating, “With Max’s radical transformation of our Gala, and St. Vincent’s incredible performance, the night allowed us all to come together around art and artists as some of the most powerful messengers of our time. It represented the heart and soul of what MOCA is about.”

In addition to the remarkable evening, attendees also had the opportunity to engage with unique artworks created by Hooper Schneider, which were made available for purchase after the Gala to benefit museum programs. Notable figures such as Shepard Fairy, Ava DuVernay, Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant, David Alan Grier, and Lisa Edelstein added to the evening’s star-studded appeal.
