PGA Tour Star Gary Woodland to Undergo Brain Surgery

The European News Global

Former U.S. Open champion and renowned PGA Tour golfer Gary Woodland has recently shared a significant health update with his fans. Woodland took to social media to reveal that he will undergo surgery on September 18th to address a brain lesion he was diagnosed with a few months ago.

In a heartfelt post shared across all his social media platforms, Woodland expressed his gratitude for the support he has received and outlined his journey towards this decision. Suffering from symptoms that he has been managing with medication, Woodland consulted with multiple specialists and his family, ultimately determining that surgery was the optimal course of action.

“I’m in good spirits with my family and team by my side and so thankful for the love and support of everyone,” wrote Woodland, demonstrating his unwavering determination and positive outlook as he faces this health challenge.

Having made his mark in the golfing world, Woodland’s achievements include capturing the prestigious U.S. Open championship at Pebble Beach in 2019 and being part of the victorious 2019 U.S. Presidents Cup team. His inspiring video alongside Amy Bockerstette, a Special Olympics Arizona athlete, gained widespread acclaim at the WM Phoenix Open that same year.

Throughout the previous season, Woodland showcased his skill and consistency with two top 10 finishes, six top 25 finishes, and making the cut in 18 of the 24 tournaments he participated in. Unfortunately, his No. 94th spot in the FedEx Cup rankings prevented him from qualifying for the golf playoffs.

While Woodland did not provide a specific timeline for his return to the PGA Tour, the entire golfing community is rallying behind him, offering their support and well-wishes. At SB Nation’s Playing Through, we join in sending our best wishes to Woodland for successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
