Tomorrow X Together, also known as TXT, is joining forces with the Jonas Brothers to release their latest single, “Do It Like That.” This dance-happy and catchy track is completely in English, which gives us a twinge of sadness that K-Pop is being over-translated. It would’ve been awesome to see the Jonas Brothers land a few lines in Korean to pay homage to K-Pop.
K-Pop has dominated the popular charts for years, and nothing mattered when it came to language. The beats, moves, and sound have made the genre cross barriers that had once kept it insulated, and we hope that never changes. If performers in South Korea strive to learn English, we’d love to see global artists strive to learn Korean for future song collaborations.
Language aside, the track “Do It Like That” is insanely catchy. Produced by Ryan Tedder, mainly known as One Republic’s producer for songs like “Counting Stars,” this latest collaborative single is aiming to snag the airwaves as a major summer hit. Consisting of five members – Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai – TXT is one of the most famous 4th generation K-pop groups under Bighit Music, the company behind global superstars BTS.
